A 28-DAY PROTOCOL

The House That Shook

When you find out you were cheated on: the house shook, but it didn't fall. And you don't have to walk this alone.

The House That Shook — cover
  • For the 2 a.m. moments: what to do with your body and your thoughts when the replaying won't stop.
  • 28 days of short daily practices, about 10–15 minutes each, plus a longer anchor at the end of each week.
  • For you, not for the relationship: you don't need your partner's participation to start, and no one pushes you to stay or to leave.

You might recognize this

  • You might recognize this: one detail didn't fit, and the world stopped looking like itself.
  • You check the phone compulsively, and your nights go without sleep.
  • In a single day you swing between longing and the purest anger.
  • A strange shame keeps grinding at you: "Why didn't I see it?"

What can change

What you're living through is not weakness. Researchers who have studied the response to infidelity for decades (Glass, Snyder, Baucom, Gordon) describe it as closer to trauma than to an ordinary breakup, with stages and a way through. Over 28 days, little by little, you can begin to:

  • Calm your nervous system and stop the compulsive checking.
  • Tell the facts apart from the story your mind keeps building.
  • Look at the three real paths ahead, with your values as a compass.
  • Rebuild your sense of who you are and your ability to act, whatever path you choose.

What's inside

Four weeks, four movements. Week one, Stabilization: we calm the nervous system and stop the compulsive checking. Week two, Settling: you give shape to pain and anger and separate fact from narrative. Week three, The Decision: the three real options (staying and actively rebuilding, leaving, or a deliberate pause) looked at without pressure. Week four, Reorientation: rebuilding your identity and agency, whatever you decide. Each day has an anchor thought, a cognitive exercise, a micro-somatic practice, a journal prompt and a check-in from 0 to 10. Days 7, 14, 21 and 28 are weekend anchors of about an hour. Tools include the Container Exercise, a Safe Place practice, coherent breathing and narrative writing.

This is not for you if

  • If you are in danger, your partner is violent or controlling, or you're having thoughts of harming yourself: please get help first. Safety comes before insight.
  • If you found out in the last 7–14 days or you're in acute crisis. Start with support around you; the protocol will still be here.
  • If you want someone to tell you whether to stay or leave. That decision is entirely yours.
  • If you want a revenge plan, or to be rushed toward forgiveness.

About Florentin

Florentin Iordache is one of Romania's best-known voices on relationships and infidelity — a regular guest on national television and on podcasts, and the host of his own shows about couples, betrayal and the patterns we repeat in love. He is an alternative therapist in Bucharest who works with individuals and couples; he is not a psychologist. in his work, the same thing kept happening. A real insight in one conversation — and then six days alone with it. Between one honest conversation and the next, the old pattern keeps working in your place; it doesn't take breaks. The protocols are what he wrote for those days in between: a few minutes a day, written in advance, so you don't wake up asking “and now what do I do with this?” They don't replace a person beside you. They keep you company until then.

Questions

Is this therapy?

No. This is not therapy or psychological counseling. It is an educational, self-guided practice, and it does not replace working with a licensed professional.

Do I need my partner to take part?

No. It's written for you alone. If one day you both decide to work on it together, there is a separate protocol for couples, After the Affair.

Is it right for me immediately after finding out?

Not in the first 7–14 days, in acute crisis, or where there is abuse. The protocol says openly when to look for specialized help.

How long does it take each day? What if I miss a day?

About 10–15 minutes, plus a longer anchor of about an hour at the end of each week. If you miss a day, pick up where you left off. The PDF is yours to keep.

What shows on my bank statement?

Your bank statement shows the seller's name, not the title of the protocol.

Can I get a refund?

Yes. Request a full refund within 48 hours of purchase using the refund form at /secret-lovers/refund.
